Our Farm Worker Partners

Farm Worker Ministry Northwest supports farm worker labor unions and farm workers who are organizing for better wages and working conditions.

Pineros y Campesinos Unidos del Noroeste (PCUN)

Pineros y Campesinos Unidos del Noroeste (PCUN) is Oregon’s farm worker labor union.  PCUN has been advocating for farm workers for 40 years and has been the founder of many other organizations that have worked to improve the lives of farmworkers through leadership training and housing.

We join with PCUN in legislative campaigns for comprehensive immigration reform, universal healthcare and wage equity.

PCUN is a leader of the Equitable Food Initiative which is a new nonprofit certification organization created by leaders from across the food supply chain to improve the lives of farmworkers and make food safer.

Familias Unidas por la Justicia

Familias Unidas por la Justicia is a new labor union of indigenous workers in the berry fields of Northwestern Washington.  They received their first union contract in 2017 with the Sakuma Bros. Berry Farm.  They stood in solidarity with the berry pickers in Sumas, Washington after the death of a worker and subsequent firing of the workers who protested.

United Farm Workers (UFW)

United Farm Workers (UFW) is organizing dairy workers in Oregon Washington and Idaho, working to secure safe working conditions.

UFW national campaigns include pesticide bans, farm worker visa reforms, and national legislation for immigration reform.

Western Farm Workers Association

Western Farm Workers Association
is a voluntary association of farm and other low-wage workers who self-organize to advocate for better living and working conditions in Washington County, Oregon.  Campaigns have included lobbying the Oregon Public Utilities Commission for fairer electric rates and testifying at the Washington County Commissioners meeting, urging that they keep the public health clinics open (they were closed July 2015).
